Hallway Wine Room

The client’s brief was to change the main hallway into a wine cellar. The hall originally had two entrances into the lounge, dining and kitchen area, but only one was needed. This allowed us to block off one entrance, making use of what had been dead space in the hallway.

This newly created area was ideal for a wine cellar. Black steel framed glass doors with glazed panels now form the main entrance from the hallway.

The client wanted storage for around 200 bottles and was open minded on style. We designed the storage to resemble a large black dresser, with a central decanting area.

The layout includes wine box shelves, angled display racks, gold and black metal racking behind the glass, pull-out drawers, loose bottle storage, magnum displays, and a lattice unit, all wrapped around a glass hanging area. LED lighting is fitted throughout.

As this is the first space you see when entering the house, creating a strong first impression was essential. One wall was finished in Venetian plaster with diamond-shaped black bottle racking. The cellar was completed with a black ceiling and strip LED lighting, along with a natural limestone floor featuring integrated LED strips.

The cellar also includes a climate control unit and a Rako lighting control system for adjustable mood lighting.

Although the space is not large, it delivers exactly what was needed; a real wow factor from the moment you walk in.
